You might try FlashMute. http://www.indev.no/?p=projects

It blocks all flash sounds, so remember to unmute it if you want to watch a YouTube video or something. I specifically sought out a solution like this because of this site and that stupid logon sound, but it also keeps you from being assaulted by shitty bands on MySpace pages. It's better than muting the whole computer.

Scratch that. FlashMute doesn't work for this one.

Just turn the volume down on your computer.

As for the crappy MySpace bands, there's now an option you can choose where it doesn't auto-start music when visiting pages.

Some people love the sound, some people hate it. It's actually not a logo sound ... it's to let you know when there is new Net News that you haven't read. We will probably add an option for users to permanently disable the sound if they don't like it, but we don't have an ETA on that yet.

I doubt anybody "loves" the sound, except maybe the person who created it. I can remember many a time logging into All Access in the studio with the computer fader at 0 and that damn sound making me jump right out of my crappy chair! (even worse with headphones on)

Kind of ironic too that that one sound is the ONLY audio on this Radio and Music site.
