Local countdown show

I recently started a Hot 6 at 6 request type countdown. This is the first time I've done a segment like this, can anyone give me any advice? Since it's the hot songs, they are still coming up in their regular slots throughout the day, but to me, it'd sound weird if we played one of the songs at 5, where it would naturally fall, then again at 6 for the specialty show.

Am I over thinking it, or should I continue to closely monitor how close the songs are together?

You're overthinking it. Alot of radiostations I know of are doing this kinda thing and they make sure it doesn't play then.
